We live in SC and never see snow. We decided to camp at Stone Mountain and go to their Snow Mountain to let our kids play. The campground is very narrow and the sites are very unlevel. They offer a package deal with passes to Snow Mountain, firewood, and a Smores kit. There was a fire ban that they forgot to tell us about and there were no campfires allowed. If I had known that, I would have camped some place else. The camp store closes at all times. It was closed at 4:45 on a Saturday. Snow Mountain is in the same park and it was a disappointment. The snow was hard packed ice. They give you times to slide down the hill but you will spend most of it waiting in line. The food is ridiculously overpriced. I spent $40 on three hamburgers that were the size of a kid's meal. In fact the kid's meal burgers were the same size as adults. We were very disappointed and probably won't be back.
This park has everything you need to get away from it all. The creek was nice and the sites are level. The owners are very nice and do what they can for everyone. They even brought us some free firewood, because they had to blow the leaves off the site next to us. There are not many negatives to this park. Cable is not available at all sites and you can't pick up any signals even with an antenna booster. The campground is kind of out of the way, but that is a good thing. The waterfall comes out of a pipe, it's not a real waterfall, my kids were disappointed. The creek is really not deep enough to fish in, it's only 4-5 inches deep. The trout pond is not ready yet either. Over all, I would camp here again.
This campground is in the middle of apple country. It is very close to many apple orchards. That is about all it has going for it. The lots are on the small side. There are no campfires allowed in this park. Whoever heard of camping in the mountains without a warm fire? This campground was clean but it is lacking of things to do. I would not recommend this campground if you have kids.
The golf carts are out of control and dangerous if you have children. The pool has so much chlorine that it bleached our bathing suits to the point of three of them rotting. We had to throw them away. My youngest had severe eye burns and we had to seek medical care, they offered no apology. We will not stay here again. Look for another park. Too cramped and too many negatives.
The people who run the counter at this place do not speak English. They are hard to understand. The park is very expensive and the river sites are a joke for travel trailers. They put you next to a mosquito pond. There are few sites for travel trailers on the river. They will take your extra money though for a river site. Our river site was next to the jumping pillow and a stagnant pond. People kept walking through our campsite.
There is no room in this park. The space is cramped and we didn't have enough room to let out our awning. The campsites are only about 10-12 feet wide. The showers and bathrooms are filthy. We will not stay here again.
